My journey began in 2006, as a young and determined 18-year-old woman who left her home in Mali and her African roots behind to pursue higher education in the United States. Amidst the overwhelming challenges of adapting to a new culture and navigating an unfamiliar financial landscape, I experienced first-hand the struggles faced by countless people seeking a better life. These struggles stem from the hurdles of proper integration due to an unfamiliar system, language barrier, and the complexities of financial systems that felt impenetrable.
Guided by my financial acumen and practical experience, which took me years to finally master, I was able to turn my focus on applying my knowledge and skills toward personal financial goals. I found success and began to transform my financial life accomplishing dreams that I once seemed unreachable. The key was consistency, discipline, and patience. My growing passion for finance and advising helped me become an exceptional financial advisor at a large bank, serving diverse communities, including African immigrants for more than 5 years. But I didn’t stop there, I became committed to guiding the next generation toward a more inclusive approach, fostering integration for all.
In 2020, reflecting on my journey and inspired by my desire to help others, I founded Djigui, which means “Hope.” Djigui is here to address the pressing needs of our diverse communities by offering educational programs and services that fuel economic mobility, support financial goals, and inspire dreams of success across all aspects of life.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we unite to break down these barriers, empowering everyone with a fair chance to seize the opportunities that can transform lives. I see a future where everyone can build a successful legacy, irrespective of their background or a desire to grow and expand their financial wealth and knowledge.
Together, I believe we can ignite a powerful wave of change that transcends borders, creates shared opportunities, and paves the way for a brighter future for all. My heart is invested in this mission, and I invite you to join me in turning hope into a reality.
As of 2021, DJIGUI began to focus on providing services in two areas: Integration and Community development via education. Within these two services, are implemented programs that promote full acculturation to the system, financial literacy education for individuals and businesses:and services enhancing economic mobility and economic growth. Over the past two years, the total beneficiaries of our programs and services were roughly 400 community members. Services offered are not limited to credit counseling, mortgage, and home equity guidancecounseling debt management, saving solution counseling, employment coaching, technical assistance to businesses, and integration services. By developing this strategy, we aim to improve our existing services and expand the scope and reach of our services to benefitlow to moderate-income families.
